General updates from the President – Nathan

  • We started doing nametags – please leave them here and pick it up again at each meeting, there will be one for you if you signed in in the past
  • Introductions from new meeting attendees
  • 102 current members
  • Just started another apprenticeship class – 40 attendees!!
  • Have submitted for the next round of InspireOlympia grant, been networking to improve our chances
  • Club apiary has been moving forward – will be building a giant geodesic dome so that we can hold classes there, have a shed to put together
  • OSC science coordinator wants us to go talk to all the second and third graders (maybe in April?)

Vice President – Bryan 

  • Need more volunteers for the apiary and Plantapalooza events and such coming up, maybe also supporting other org’s apiaries
  • Sign up by emailing the President or Vice President

Outreach Coordinator – Mohan

  • Got an email from someone teaching a pre-school and asking for a member to go speak to the kids about the basics of beekeeping
    • Mohan will go and needs support from someone who has experience talking to young kids
  • OBA Discussion group – it’s not only for questions, also to tell us about your experience, sign up for it and you’ll receive the email (daily or weekly)

Treasurer – David

  • Great financial shape! Never had this much available funds in all the years David has been Treasurer
    • Will submit balances to Secretary to include in the minutes
  • Treasurer position will be vacant in 2026

Education – Gail

  • Has all the certificates for the recent apprenticeship class graduates!

Librarian – Lynn

  • Reviewed how to check a book out from the library and shared a number of new books that were recently added (with really cute names!)

REMINDER! The Thurston County Fair is July 31st – August 3rd! We encourage you to sell your honey in the bee booth and enter honey in the contest. Our Fairground’s pollinator garden has now been listed nationally.
